Laboratory work

The ammonia action on d-element.

Purpose of the work: is based on the formation of hydroxides of copper (II), zinc (II), cobalt (II), which dissolves in excess of the reagent and forms complex compounds.

Materials:

·         test tubes

·         solutions of copper (II)

·         zinc (II)

·         ammonia (2M)

·         pipette

Procedure:

1. Take three test tubes. Put in each test tube with 3 drops of solutions of copper (II) and cobalt (II).

2. Add to each tube 1 drop of 2M ammonia solution.

3. Define the color of the resulting salts.

4. Add to each tube 6 drops of concentrated ammonia solution.

5. Define the changes in each of the tubes.

6. Write the equations of appropriate reactions in molecular and ionic forms.

7. Determine the type of obtained complex compounds and give the names of these compounds.
